Automatic power factor controllers
Switch capacitor steps to hold target PF through the day, with harmonic display and alarms when a step has failed.
- 6, 8, 12 and 14 step models
- Intelligent step rotation for even wear
- Alarm relay and RS-485 options
A correctly sized APFC panel pays for itself out of the penalty column of your electricity bill. A badly sized one burns capacitors every monsoon. We supply the parts and the sizing logic behind them.

Supplied individually or as a matched kit against your kVAr and step schedule — controller, capacitors, duty contactors, reactors, fuses and monitoring relays.
Average power factor, maximum demand and the PF penalty or incentive. Send us a copy of a recent bill and the connected load, and we will come back with the kVAr, the step schedule and an honest payback estimate.
Send your bill on WhatsAppCorrecting PF releases kVA capacity, which often postpones a transformer upgrade as well as clearing the penalty.
Duty contactors and correctly chosen detuned reactors are the difference between a five-year bank and a yearly replacement bill.
Log the load with a power quality analyzer first, then again after commissioning, and the improvement is documented.
Start from maximum demand in kW and present average PF on your bill, then compute the reactive compensation needed for the target PF. We prefer to log the load for a few days first — kVAr sized off one bill tends to over-compensate at night and fall short at peak. The sizing guide works through an example.
Whenever a meaningful share of load is non-linear: VFDs, rectifiers, UPS, welding sets, induction furnaces. Plain capacitors can resonate with harmonic currents and fail early. A 7% detuned reactor tunes the bank below the 5th harmonic and is now standard in most industrial panels.
Capacitor switching draws very high inrush current. Duty contactors carry pre-charging damping resistors that limit it, protecting both contacts and capacitor. Using ordinary contactors is the most common cause of premature capacitor failure we see.
Yes — controller, capacitors, duty contactors, detuned reactors, fuses and monitoring relays as a matched set against your kVAr and step schedule, ready for your panel builder. We also supply metering for the same panel.
